I created this image from a photograph of a large Dahlia after seeing a stunning work of art based on a similar flower. I set out to create a similar effect and really wasn't able to figure it out. In the end, however, I really liked my creation. I very much appreciate being inspired by others; work and love the way I am challenged to experiment and to grow. I used several layers of the flower with the background masked out, then re-sized and rotate the different layers while setting each at different levels of transparency.
