Artist's Description

The water flowing down Wahkeena Creek seems to be in a hurry to join the mighty Columbia River from the Oregon side of the scenic Columbia River Gorge. Rushing along on it's trip it cascades over rapids in the cool mossy rain forest. A single beam of sunlight highlights some leaves in the upper left and makes the maidenhair fern on the lower right glow with warmth. A single large cedar tree stands guard in this idyllic scene and adds balance to the diagonal motion of the stream. Beware of being caught daydreaming as you gaze into this classic landscape imagining yourself there in the cool mist on a warm summer day.

About Mary Jo Allen

Mary Jo Allen

Hello and thanks for stopping by. I've been a professional photographer for 30+ years. My degree is in microbiology and I did research work in that field for 3 years which sounds glamourous and exciting but in reality I found it to be repetitive and uninspiring. It does explain my interest in the tiny world and my desire to understand how things work. I've always said I could be a professional student as I love to learn new things and photography certainly does provide that opportunity. Even after all these years I continue to learn new things every day. I find photography to be the perfect blend of science and art. Most recently, some of my favorite work has been in the area of macro photography, especially the beautiful world...
